Terms of Service

Who we are

Slothware Pte. Ltd. operates TickerTown. In these Terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean Slothware Pte. Ltd. "TickerTown" means the game at tickertown.ai, its website and every service we provide through them.

Accepting these Terms

By you creating an account or using TickerTown, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use TickerTown. You must be old enough to form a binding contract where you live, and at least 16 years old.

Your account

You sign in with your email address. Give us an address that you control, and keep your access to it secure. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at once if you think someone else has used it.

Keep your details accurate. Choose a display name that does not impersonate another person and is not offensive. We may change or remove a name that breaks these Terms.

What TickerTown is

TickerTown is a trading simulation game. You build trading rules, test them on historical market data, and practise with play money. The game uses play money and places no real trade. Nothing in TickerTown connects to a brokerage, holds your money for trading or lets you buy or sell a real security.

TickerTown is for education and entertainment. It is not financial, investment, tax or legal advice, and nothing in it recommends that you buy, sell or hold any security. Simulated results do not predict future returns. Market data can be delayed, incomplete or wrong, and a simulation does not reproduce every cost or constraint of real trading. Make your own decisions, and speak to a licensed adviser before you risk real money.

Sparks and other in-game amounts are play money. They have no cash value, and you cannot redeem them or transfer them for money.

TickerTown PRO

TickerTown PRO is an optional paid plan. It costs US$19 a month or US$96 a year, before any tax. You choose the billing period when you subscribe. Stripe Checkout shows any tax that applies and the exact total before you confirm payment.

You pay through Stripe. We do not see or store your full card number. Stripe handles your payment details under its own terms and privacy policy.

PRO renews at the end of each period until you cancel. Each renewal charges the price in force for your plan. You can cancel in Settings at any time. Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep PRO access to the end of the period you paid for, and we charge no further subscription fee for it.

Except where the law requires otherwise, or where we say so in writing, payments are not refundable and we do not refund part of a paid period. If a payment fails, Stripe may retry it, and we may end PRO access when it stays unpaid. We may change the price or the benefits of PRO. A change applies from your next renewal, and we tell you before it does.

Acceptable use

Use TickerTown only for lawful, personal purposes. Do not:

  • break the law or another person's rights;
  • attack, overload, scrape or reverse engineer TickerTown, or try to reach another person's account or data;
  • create accounts to gain an unfair advantage in rankings or rewards, or use a bot or script to play for you;
  • post content that is unlawful, abusive, hateful or misleading; or
  • use TickerTown to promote or sell investment services.

We may suspend or end an account that breaks this section.

Our content and your content

We and our licensors own TickerTown, including its software, design, characters, text and data. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use it under these Terms. Market data comes from third parties, and you may not resell it.

You keep the rights to what you submit, such as your strategies, your display name and your feedback. You give us a licence to host, use and display it so that we can run TickerTown. That includes showing your display name, avatar and results to other players, for example on a leaderboard. You promise that you may give us that licence.

Disclaimers

TickerTown is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law permits, we give no warranty of any kind, express or implied. That includes any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy or uninterrupted service. We do not promise that TickerTown will be free of errors or interruptions.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law permits, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss, or for any loss of profit, data or goodwill, that arises from your use of TickerTown. This includes a loss that comes from relying on a simulated result. Our total liability to you for all claims is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits a liability that the law does not allow us to limit.

Ending your account

You may stop using TickerTown at any time. To close your account and delete your data, email willis@slothware.io. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, if the law requires it, or if we stop offering TickerTown.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. We will post the new version on this page with a new date. For a material change we will also tell signed-in players by email or in the game. If you keep using TickerTown after a change takes effect, you accept the new Terms.

Governing law

The laws of Singapore govern these Terms and any dispute that arises from them or from TickerTown. The courts of Singapore have exclusive jurisdiction over such a dispute, except where the law of your country gives you a right to go to another court.
